Pinterest Worthy Wedding Trends for 2016

Let me start off by saying I am SUPER excited for the out-of the box wedding trends for 2016! We would be here all day if I told you about all of them, so instead, I selected 4 of the trends that I think will be the most "Pinterest worthy" this wedding season.

Unique Sweet Treats:
I absolutely love sweet treats! Especially when they are bite-sized so that I can indulge in more than one. In 2016 you will see more emphasis on unique “stand-ins” for the traditional wedding cake which serves as a cost-effective and creative replacement. There are so many ways that you can create a tablescape with your favorite desserts and sweets, or create a nostalgic moment for you and your guests by having your favorite ice cream vendor cater your “wedding treat".

Rose Gold and Silver and Bronze- OH MY!   Mix-and-match metallic can add the “extra something” to the simplest of dresses, invitations, linens, and décor. The nice thing is that this glamour trend is perfect for DIY. You can add a subtle metallic sheen to branches, wine bottles, pine cones, even fruit, turning the ordinary into opulent. With Rose Quartz named as one of the 2016 Pantone Colors of year, be on the look out for how this color is paired with other “metals” to create a chic and sophisticated look.

Non-Traditional Centerpieces:
Trends for 2016 are leaning towards branches, succulents, potted trees, and decorative leaves as the main focal point for centerpieces. I adore succulents! I love their organic look, feel, and vibrancy. Utilizing a natural arrangement of succulents is guaranteed to strike-up a conversation amongst your guests. Another low budget option following the 2016 trend would be to take bare branches, spray paint them metallic gold and adorn them with hanging crystals or crepe-paper flowers.

Mr. & Mrs. Libations”:This past summer one of my clients created a specialty drink for their reception: “The Newlywedgar”. This drink was a play on the couple’s married name, Edgar. This idea was not only easier on the budget (no need to make an “educated guess” for an open bar), but it was also a fun way for the couple to share something of themselves with their guests. These one-of-a-kind libations also make for a great conversation starter.

  1. This information about weddings is truly outstanding. I am working in an event planning firm so usually attend these events and apply them in Chicago wedding venues where I organize weddings. These events are among the best sources to know recent wedding trends!
