Wedding Wire World 2016: A Sensory Experience

Friday, February 26, 2016

Two weeks ago I had the profound opportunity to attend Wedding Wire World 2016. I wanted to share with you my “take away” from this experience…

When I entered the vast hall at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, I was greeted by smoky purple lights, pumping dance music, a sea of chairs, and hundreds of people that were eager to meet one another. Having never attended this event in that past, I was not sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised when I became fast friends with the people I sat beside.

The 3-day experience was packed full of noteworthy speakers, such as, internationally celebrated cake Designer Syliva Weinstock, Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson, and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel.

I thoroughly enjoyed the presentations by all of these dynamic women but the most impactful words came from one of the founders of the Rising Tide Society, Natalie Franke. Her session was titled “The Brain Behind the Business”. She talked about creating and marketing your brand through a sensory experience. She encouraged us to answer questions such as:

·       What does your brand look like?

·       How does it feel to the touch?

·       Does it have a fragrance? What does it smell like?

·       What does it taste like?

·       What does it sound like?

Initially, I was quite perplexed by these questions…what does my brand smell like? How in the world could I answer a question like that? I sat there for a few moments and realized that for me, B.Mingled evokes that scents of vanilla and lavender. These aromas create a sense of comfort, relaxation and anti-stress…these are the same feelings that I want our clients to experience when working with the B.Mingled team. What does our brand taste like? I believe it tastes like a homemade melt-in-your-mouth macaroon. What does it sound like? I hear the lilt of the strings in the background surrounded by the twinkling of candlelight.
I really found that the exercise of answering these sensory questions caused me to think about what B.Mingled is to me on a completely higher level. I strongly encourage anyone that is an entrepreneur to complete this exercise for their own business. I guarantee that it will greatly impact the way you market and present your brand to your clients.

Pinterest Worthy Wedding Trends for 2016

Monday, February 1, 2016

Let me start off by saying I am SUPER excited for the out-of the box wedding trends for 2016! We would be here all day if I told you about all of them, so instead, I selected 4 of the trends that I think will be the most "Pinterest worthy" this wedding season.

Unique Sweet Treats:
I absolutely love sweet treats! Especially when they are bite-sized so that I can indulge in more than one. In 2016 you will see more emphasis on unique “stand-ins” for the traditional wedding cake which serves as a cost-effective and creative replacement. There are so many ways that you can create a tablescape with your favorite desserts and sweets, or create a nostalgic moment for you and your guests by having your favorite ice cream vendor cater your “wedding treat".

Rose Gold and Silver and Bronze- OH MY!   Mix-and-match metallic can add the “extra something” to the simplest of dresses, invitations, linens, and décor. The nice thing is that this glamour trend is perfect for DIY. You can add a subtle metallic sheen to branches, wine bottles, pine cones, even fruit, turning the ordinary into opulent. With Rose Quartz named as one of the 2016 Pantone Colors of year, be on the look out for how this color is paired with other “metals” to create a chic and sophisticated look.

Non-Traditional Centerpieces:
Trends for 2016 are leaning towards branches, succulents, potted trees, and decorative leaves as the main focal point for centerpieces. I adore succulents! I love their organic look, feel, and vibrancy. Utilizing a natural arrangement of succulents is guaranteed to strike-up a conversation amongst your guests. Another low budget option following the 2016 trend would be to take bare branches, spray paint them metallic gold and adorn them with hanging crystals or crepe-paper flowers.

Mr. & Mrs. Libations”:This past summer one of my clients created a specialty drink for their reception: “The Newlywedgar”. This drink was a play on the couple’s married name, Edgar. This idea was not only easier on the budget (no need to make an “educated guess” for an open bar), but it was also a fun way for the couple to share something of themselves with their guests. These one-of-a-kind libations also make for a great conversation starter.

So, are you excited yet? It's no secret, these trends for 2016 make me want to do a "happy dance".

For the Love of Wine & Chocolate: Valentine's Day 2016

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

We love wine and chocolate…the "we" meaning the whole B.Mingled crew. I don't know any of us who have turned down an offering of either. By themselves, or paired together for a perfect marriage of taste, we predict there are many others in the NOVA area who feel the exact same way. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, this little bit of info we are about to share will lead to a perfect night of sweetness (and maybe an engagement or two)!

Does dinner and dancing sound enticing to you and yours? Check out Breaux Vineyards (one of our fav's) for a night filled with scrumptious food and paired wines. The incredible Chef Author from Grandale Restaurant will be preparing the cuisine (where the food just doesn't get much better). There is currently a waiting list, so sign up ASAP! In case you can not get reservations for this special night, Breaux is hosting a chocolate & Cabernet night too. Check out the link below for more info:

If music & wine are your thing, check out Hunter's Run Winery & Sunset Hill's Vineyard. These Loudoun County wineries will be offering live performances to listen to while you sip away at a fine glass of vino goodness. This is a great way for singles and couples alike to enjoy an evening (no romance needed).

Laughing is a fabulous way to spend Valentine's Day! Why not join Notaviva Vineyards for a comedic experience? They are hosting a "My Funny Valentine" event…which is sure to be entertaining. There are 3 different dates to attend. Check out for show times and information.

Lastly, Lost Creek Vineyard & Winery is celebrating a day of LOVE with their event:
La Dolce Vita: Truffle & Wine Pairing. Ummm…hello!! Doesn't this sound amazing!! The word "truffle" itself is alluring. Reservations are required, so do not wait to purchase a ticket for this appetizing affair.

From all of us at B.Mingled, we wish you a wonderful Valentine's Day this year…even if you are one of those singles—> go out with your bestie to sip and savor the night away!
